Yolanda Luna-Mroz (she/her)

Chief Programs Officer

Before joining High Jump, Yolanda Luna-Mroz served as principal of Decatur Classical School, one of the highest-rated elementary schools in Chicago, and recently honored as one of 367 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2020. At Decatur, Yolanda says her decisions were always guided by what would clearly be in her students’ best interest. Her work with teachers helped improve their high-quality instruction and fostered a community to build resilience in all children.

Yolanda is a highly successful and award-winning CPS Elementary School Principal with a love of middle grades and experience building great programs. As High Jump’s new Chief Programs Officer, Yolanda will oversee leadership and development for High Jump’s successful middle-grade enrichment program, alumni program extension, and upcoming pilot program.

Yolanda has held teaching and leadership positions at Stockton Elementary (Uptown), Hamilton Elementary (Roscoe Village), and, most recently, Decatur Classical School (Rogers Park) — all of which are Chicago Public Schools. She received her Masters in Education Leadership from National Louis University. A native Chicagoan and alumni of Chicago Public Schools, Yolanda earned her bachelor’s degree from DePaul University.

Joining the team in December 2020, Yolanda is excited to be part of an organization that is not only transformative for students and families but can also be life-changing for many children by altering their trajectory.
