High Jump offers two tuition-free programs with one-of-a-kind experiences, access to resources, and educational opportunities for 7th and 8th-grade students who meet the required income thresholds.
Our programs are designed for intellectually curious and academically motivated students seeking a high school experience that will challenge them socially and academically.

High Jump is NOT a tutoring service. We provide academic enrichment which is about introducing students to
new ideas, skills, or subjects that can help them grow. Think of it as extra fun and challenging activities that
make learning exciting!
Students gain exposure to advanced Math and Science concepts including pre-algebra, algebra, Chemistry, and Physics. They participate in social emotional learning exercises such as student-centered talking circles. In addition scholars engage in lively discussion and respond in writing to culturally relevant articles, texts, and themes.
There is no cost. All learning materials for the program will be provided. High Jump activities offered to scholars are entirely free. This includes daily breakfast and lunch, all learning materials for the program, field trips, activities, and events.
High Jump is a two-year program. Personal and family commitments should be scheduled around class sessions.
Students attend classes and other program activities:
- 2-3 times a month on Saturdays during the school year
- Full days in the summer, mid-June through July
Students are expected to attend and come prepared for each class, complete all homework assignments, and actively participate in class discussions and group projects.
High Jump Scholars programming has three Chicago locations:
- Latin School of Chicago (59 W. North Blvd)
- Francis W. Parker School (330 W. Webster)
- University of Chicago Laboratory School (1362 E. 59th Street)
No, transportation is not provided. Parents/guardians are responsible for providing transportation for their child to every High Jump session. High Jump may offer a 3rd party transportation option in the future. Still, we ask that parents/guardians make this commitment to getting their students to and from programming.
We do not provide any scholarships, however, many of our High Jump students end up receiving amazing
financial aid packages and/or scholarships like Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, HFS, and more!
