Eighth graders attend High Jump’s annual High School Fair

On October 13, High Jump held its annual High School Fair, one of the program’s biggest student events of the year that connects eighth graders with high school resources and opportunities as they think about the next step in their academic career.

Over 150 students and their families had the opportunity to meet with high school representatives from Chicago and around the country. Schools represented include our partner schools the Latin School of Chicago, Francis W. Parker, the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, as well as Phillips Exeter Academy, Whitney M. Young Magnet School, St. Ignatius College Prep, Lake Forest Academy, Walter Payton College Prep and more!

Also in attendance were High Jump alumni who shared what their experience was like at enrollment, boarding, parochial and independent schools. These panels are important to our families to show them the many options that are out there and help them decide what the best fit will be for their child.

Many schools also require admissions interviews from applicants, and our eighth graders participated in mock interviews to give practice being self advocates.
