Building Hope for The Future: CeCe’s High Jump Success Story
While CeCe may not have known exactly what future growth awaited her when she got to High Jump, her mother Ciana already had seen first hand what the program could do for students from when she was a teaching assistant back in the early 2000s.
CeCe came to High Jump as a “quiet person” who “didn’t like to speak out in public.” Now, two years later with support from her High Jump teachers, TAs, and peers, CeCe is so much “more open and able to have these long conversations with people.” Her mother, Ciana, sees the difference in her daughter too: “Now, I see her volunteering for things. She’s more of a leader. High Jump gave her the confidence to step out.”
Crucially, at High Jump, CeCe not only found the confidence to chart a path for her educational future, but she got the tools and resources to make it a reality. During her 8th grade year in High Jump, CeCe, like all High Jump 8th graders, received over 30 hours of intensive prep for entrance exams, admissions interviews, and the entire high school application process during her High School Choice class. And Ciana, like all parents of High Jump 8th graders, received over 30 hours of individualized attention to help ensure that they were on the same page working towards the family decision of high school choice.
After all of this High Jump support and after CeCe’s hard and dedicated work, she achieved her dream and got into her dream high school, De La Salle Institute, which she’ll be attending this fall!
Watch below to hear from CeCe and Ciana about how High Jump’s support helped CeCe feel “really ready for the future!”
