High Jump Featured in the Fry Foundation’s Annual Report

We are proud to be featured in the Lloyd A. Fry Foundation’s Annual Report as one of their longest-term grantees. For 35 years, the foundation has been supporting organizations in Chicago so that underserved communities have access to the resources they need.

The Fry Foundation and High Jump have a long history together; their initial grant in 1989 launched our program with a cohort of 16 students. Thirty years later, High Jump’s program has changed the lives of almost 2,000 students from across Chicago, and it would not have been possible without our partnership with the Fry Foundation.

Here is an excerpt from the letter from Board Chair Lloyd A. Fry III:

“At the time, the long-term goal for High Jump was to continue to grow the number of cohorts, expand its reach and base of support and become an independent nonprofit organization. Today, all of these goals have become a reality. I pick this one story, among many, because it is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when the power of philanthropy connects with a specific vision to address a complicated problem that exists in our community.”
